The CEO of Dads House with Lion Puppy — we weren’t planning to stop, but we’re so glad we did. 🐾
We weren’t expecting to stop. We were passing through Fulham with Lion Puppy when we spotted an open door on Lillie Road — people coming and going, something warm and purposeful in the air. We knocked. What we found inside stopped us in our tracks.
Lion Puppy Stamp of Approval ✓
Dads House has earned our stamp of approval — not just for welcoming Lion Puppy through the door without a second’s hesitation, but for the remarkable, quiet, extraordinary work they do for families every single day. We’ll be back.
A Passing Visit That Turned Into Something More
We didn’t plan to stop at Dads House. We were walking along Lillie Road in Fulham — Lion Puppy doing his usual thing, sniffing everything, charming everyone — when the door was open and something about the place just felt different. Warm. Busy. Purposeful in a way you don’t expect from a building on a residential street.
So we knocked. And then the CEO came to the door — and the first thing he did was spot Lion Puppy and absolutely light up.
He scooped him up. Lion Puppy, who can be fairly selective about who gets that privilege, didn’t budge. Just settled straight in, completely at ease. That told us everything we needed to know about the person holding him.
We ended up staying far longer than we expected. What follows is what we found out.
What Dads House Actually Does
Dads House isn’t a pub or a café — it’s a registered charity that has been quietly doing extraordinary things in Fulham for over a decade. Every week, they support more than 850 people. And they do it entirely through donations, partnerships, and an enormous amount of heart.
Their mission is straightforward: make sure children remain the priority after divorce, separation, or bereavement. But the way they go about it is anything but simple.
Food Bank
Open Monday to Friday, 10am–1pm, providing food for families in need — made possible by their partnership with Delancey and Earls Court Development.
Family Law Clinic
Free legal advice every Wednesday and Friday, led by Simon Bruce — described by Chambers as one of the best family lawyers in the country. Available to anyone who needs it.
Breakfast Club
Running for seven years — a mutual support network for dads, where all dietary needs are met and no judgement is passed. Just people showing up for each other.
Health Testing
Free drug, alcohol and blood testing for all families, offered in a relaxed social setting that makes it feel human rather than clinical.
Dogs Are Welcome Here
We asked if Lion Puppy could come in. The answer wasn’t just yes — it was enthusiastic. The CEO held him for a good ten minutes while walking us through everything Dads House does, barely pausing, completely at ease. Lion Puppy, for his part, was equally relaxed.
That’s the thing about Dads House. It feels like a place run by people, for people. Warm, real, and genuinely welcoming — to families, to dads, to anyone who needs support, and apparently to small dogs who wander in off the street with a camera crew in tow.
We weren’t expecting a Spotlight when we knocked on that door. But some of the best ones find you.
Support Dads House 🐾
Dads House is entirely donation-funded. Every contribution goes directly towards food, supplies, staffing, and keeping the doors open for over 850 people every week. If what they do resonates with you, the best thing you can do is share their story — or donate directly.
Donate to Dads HouseDisclaimer: Our visit to Dads House was completely unplanned — we knocked on an open door and were welcomed in. Everything in this Spotlight reflects our genuine experience.
